When Almighty Allāh asked us to perform all rituals (‘ibādāt) such as offering prayers, giving zakāh, observing fasting, performing pilgrimage, and so on, He did not mean by that mere meaningless rituals, affecting nothing in one’s inner and outer behaviour.
